There is a lot of discussions about site engine optimization and small business website SEO.  Everyone is claiming they know the magic formula to get your website ranked high on the first page of the search engines.  While it is important to structure your website so it is search engine friendly, getting your website on the first page of Google may not be your best tactic.

When people use the search engines on the internet, they are looking for an answer to their question or a solution to their problem.  If you have a detailed website with many pages, you have about twenty to thirty seconds to answer that question or provide a solution to their problem.  If they can not get the answer or solution they are looking for, then they will move on to the next website on the page.
